What to expect

The Gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ and what He’s done to rescue people from sin, death and judgement, giving them eternal life as a free gift. This good news is core to everything we are and do. Therefore, on Sunday mornings, our fellowship, singing, prayers, giving, and preaching are all a joyful response to the goodness of God found in the Gospel. Please don’t feel obligated to jump in where you’re not yet comfortable.

Here at Philippi Church, we have people from all stages of life, background and culture. Yet, we find our unity among this diversity in our shared trust in and love for Jesus Christ. Given our diversity, on any given Sunday you’ll find anything from jeans and sweatshirts to button ups and blouses. Please feel free to wear whatever you’re comfortable in.

We believe God speaks to us through His word, and so we anticipate hearing from Him through the preached word. Our preaching is typically expositional, meaning the message of the text is the message of the sermon. Therefore, rather than hearing the preacher’s idea on a particular topic, his intent will be to simply teach and apply the bible to us. We hope and pray that upon hearing God’s word, you’ll encounter God Himself.

Lastly, we are dedicated to assisting families in seeing their kids transformed by the gospel. Our children’s ministry is staffed by screened volunteers who provide care and teaching to our kids during the service. Whatever content is being covered in the Sunday sermon will be the same content the children will get in their lessons. This helps you as a family to be learning and applying the same truths week after week.
